After coming out of a long-term relationship I began to recognise that my self-love was at an all time low. I was focusing so much of my energy on beating myself up for past mistakes and believing that I wasn’t truly worthy of love.
From as young as I can remember, I have always felt responsible for other people’s pain. This is a conditioned pattern that has caused me to sacrifice so much of myself to please others. I was living in a vicious cycle of self-blame and criticism.
Meditation and mindfulness have become a daily practice of mine. Over the years I have learned how important it is to pay attention to the negative thoughts and patterns that were influencing my life. And recently I noticed that my thoughts towards myself weren’t particularly kind or loving.
The thoughts you have about yourself influence every aspect of your life, so it’s important to pay attention to them and stop the self-destructive ones dead in their tracks. When you catch yourself ruminating over a negative belief about yourself, this is the time to pause and replace it with a self-love mantra.
When you begin changing your mindset from negative, self-destructive thoughts into self-loving thoughts, you start creating a whole new reality for yourself. You give yourself permission to feel loved, worthy and respected.

What are mantras?
The Chopra Centre explains mantra as “man” = mind and “tra” = transport or vehicle. Together it means; an instrument of the mind of which you focus intent on.
So a mantra is basically reciting something in your mind, which plants the seed for and intention to grow. We unconsciously recite many mantras in our mind, they have become our conditioning. So why not intentionally set positive mantras to sprout seeds of love and joy into your life?
Repeating your chosen mantra when you start your day and before you go to bed will begin to create positive habits in your life.
